Applying Vinyl Decals

Do you have a shiny, new decal but no idea how to apply it? Good news: It’s really simple. Read on to see how I apply my decals.

Don’t have a decal? You can make your own, or purchase one on my Etsy store AngelaBrooksShop (link).

IMPORTANT: All decals should be at room temperature for proper application. Is your decal fresh from the mailbox? Let it warm up inside overnight before you continue. This step is especially important during the hot and cold months of the year.

Is your decal room temperature? Okay, let’s begin:

You Will Need:

♥ 1-2 Alcohol Wipes OR Rubbing Alcohol and Cotton

♥ Credit Card or Vinyl Applicator

Step 1 – Clean your surface with rubbing alcohol and a cotton ball. Let the area dry       completely.

Step 2 – Firmly rub a credit card across the clear transfer tape covering the top of your       decal.

Step 3 – Flip your decal over. Beginning in a corner, peel the back paper off the top   transfer tape and decal. Do this slowly! If your decal sticks to the backing, replace the   paper backing and repeat Step 2. If you do this step to quick, you risk ripping your decal.

Step 4 – Place the decal on your clean, dry surface. Use a credit card to rub it firmly from   the center to the edges in all directions.

Step 5 – Beginning in a corner, slowly peel away the clear transfer tape at a 45-degree   angle. Go slow and be careful not to pull your decal off the surface. If this happens,   repeat Step 4.

Final Notes:

♥ Use a pin to poke any air bubbles in the center and push the air out through the hole.

♥ Car decals should only be applied to surfaces with temperatures between 50 to 90 degrees Fahrenheit and should be allowed to cure for 24 hours before getting wet.

That’s it! Your decal is on and looking great! If you have any trouble with this written tutorial, you can always search “how to apply a vinyl decal” on YouTube. Stay tuned for a video showing you my personal method.
